A quieter New Year’s Eve

For the first time, the municipality of Gangelt has banned fireworks in the vicinity of 16 locations in the municipality that are at particular risk of fire. The rule protects fire-sensitive buildings, farms and sensitive facilities. We, the Gangelt Greens, welcome this as a first step in a direction we would like to see.

We want to stress: 👉 there is no general ban on fireworks in Germany. Private fireworks are permitted on 31 December and 1 January outside the designated no-fireworks zones.

Even so, sensitive people, animals and our environment deserve protection just as much! That’s why we’re glad of every single person who voluntarily goes without bangers on New Year’s Eve – as a sign of living together peacefully.

Let’s all start the new year responsibly!

Have a happy, safe and healthy start to 2026!
