Election night

Yesterday was election day – the first for our young local branch. We met at around 5.45 pm at the “Il Genio” pizzeria in the centre of Gangelt. Many members were there, as well as our non-party candidates and our families.

We kicked off election night with dinner together and lively discussions. The local branch paid for the drinks.

Afterwards, a slightly smaller group went over to the town hall, including some children, who got the chance to learn a little about the basics of our democracy.

It was an exciting evening. One by one, the results from the individual wards came in. Starting from scratch, we won 9.1% of the vote in Gangelt – remarkable, considering we had only four months between founding the branch and election day, and a very small budget.

As a result, three of our candidates will now take their seats on the municipal council.
